The main topic of this thesis is the fate of people being held in the Pankrác prison in the period of approximately one year after the end of World War II. The base of the thesis are collected testimonies, information about the circumstances of the events at that time from both the present and available contemporary literature and periodicals, their analysis and comparisons as well as adding other relating data from archives and other sources. The introduction and the methodological part is followed by a historical discourse observing the events of the end of World War II in the European context, history of the Pankrác prison since the time of its establishment in 1889, and the Czech-German conflict in the period before the Munich Agreement had been signed and the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, until the transfer of the control over the prison by the Czech administration in May 1945. The migration of Slovak Roms to Carlsbad after 1945 (Case Study - settling down of the family Bílý and Sivák in Karlovy Vary in the years 1945 - 1952)
Hlaváčová, Veronika ; Sadílková, Helena (advisor) ; Kubaník, Pavel (referee)
My thesis is focused on the post war migration of the Roms from Slovakia to Czech lands, on the example of my own family whose ancestors have settled down , in late 1940's, in the town of Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) on the western border of the then Czechoslovakia. After the presentation of the methods I have used in my research and their pitfalls, my work then concentrates on the migration of the given families, including their stay in two temporary migration locations (Prague/Praha, Pilsen/Plzeň), their returns back to their home villages in Slovakia and the departure for Karlsbad. The migration occured between 1945 and late 1940's when the Sivák and Bílý families settled in Karlsbad for good. The presented case study is dedicated to clarify what reasons led the founders of the two families to their depart from Slovakia and to map the entire process of their migration. I will discuss the factors which influenced their migration and the reasons that made them to settle down permanently in the Czech lands. Through this study I was able to outline one of the possible ways how the postwar migration of Roms from Slovakia to the Czech lands has evolved in the early post- war years.

The position of France in the international relations during the 40's and 50's in the 20th century
Poddaná, Barbora ; Veselý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Krines, Vlastimil (referee)
In my thesis, I am trying to define the position of France in the international relations during the postwar period of 40's and 50's. The second world war was a destroying event for all Europe and also for France. The country who held its position of the hegemon and power in the world till now,is ruined and lost its influence. In this period, there are many influences to fight with. The rising power of the communism, the decolonisation and the cold war. The world is separated into two blocks. France is slowly becoming the part of the western block so that it can profit from the financial help of the US in the form od Marshall plan for recovery. France also losts its influence in its colonies because there are many problems inside the country to resolve. But also in this difficult time, France succeeded to find a way from it and it started the process of the european integration and became the leader country in Europe again.
